Only the most amazing Game Jam ever (as claimed by Sune - that's me)!
And best of all; you can join Nordic Game Jam from April 13-16, 2018 together with Devdog, as Nordic Game Jam is once again sponsoring the Devdog and Game Analytics Christmas event (check it out for a chance to win a free Nordic Game Jam 2018 ticket!).
The below is the epic tale of Nordic Game Jam, as told by one of the main organizers, Astrid Mie Refstrup.
The first Nordic Game Jam was held in 2006.
It went on to inspire the Global Game Jam, and we are still jamming! In 2016, 1000 jammers visited the event.
The event has grown from a classic 48 hours game jam to including two days of conference with talks, workshops, roundtables and an amazing pre-party. Everyone can join for an inspiring weekend of creating games, networking, and learning.
We love the game industry because it’s creative, open and supportive. Over the last 12 years, we have made a platform where people can meet and create games, see great talks, and make new friends.
Now, we want to help our participants onwards with the amazing games we see created at the game jam each year. Therefore, in 2018 we introduce an extra conference day with the goal of helping new companies and indies found great new companies, get their games to market, and not eat cup noodles for the rest of their lives.
In 2018 Nordic Game Jam will include; Scholarships, Mentor Cafes, Education Roundtable, Talks, Workshops, VR space, a whole extra conference day and lots of game creation.
Tickets are available at www.nordicgamejam.org
-We look forward to jam with you!
Prior to Devdog, I ran an online games industry news media for and about Nordic game developers for nearly two years.
During that time, I often reached out to new game developers directly, apart from interviewing the ones who sent a press release directly to me.
A few weeks ago, we bought a Unity Asset that really let us down.
In developing our own assets, we spend a lot of time on the Asset Store, researching the market and getting inspired.
Item Collections in Inventory Pro are powerful collections that can contain items, stack, unstack, merge items and much, much more.
As we'll soon see, however, these features aren't only useful when creating a traditional RPG inventory system, but can be used in many aspects of your game.
We're a developer and publisher of best-in-class tools and asset for the Unity game engine. We develop and sell but also publish products like Odin for talented developers and artists around the world.
