Sponsor Highlight: Nordic Game Jam 2020

Nordic Game Jam

We at Devdog are thrilled for the fourth year running to be partnered with Nordic Game Jam in this year's #UnityChristmas calendar event. Below are some exciting details and updates for the 2020 jam written by NGJ communication director Mathias Boldsen.

So what is Nordic Game Jam? First and foremost, it is a 48-hour game jam, but it is actually much more than that!

It is also an opportunity to make 500+ new game friends. An awesome pre-party where you get to meet said new friends and have fun. Two days of conference talks, which includes renowned speakers from the game industry - giving talks about the business of game making and setting up a studio, and presentations and workshops about the nuts and bolts of game making.

"Last year we tried mixing up the usual game jam format by having everyone play each others game at the end of the jam, instead of just showcasing them. This turned out to be a huge success and we will continue this format again this year", Mathias says, and continues:

"One of our main focuses this year is gonna be on creating more interesting spaces for jammers to relax in and explore during the game jam. To this end, we are focusing on guest-driven workshops by the attendees and having people from the industry come in and help out people who are jamming."

NGJ is a festival that represents the image of the game industry that we wish for, rather than the current state of the industry. The goal is to bring developers, artists, designers and thinkers together to learn, work and play together in an environment that is welcoming and valuable to everyone. NGJ strives to be as inclusive, diverse, professional, experimental, playful and sustainable as possible. It dares to reach beyond what is expected and point a path forward, so that we can all keep evolving as creators.

"In this spirit, we are very happy to be a part of the Devdog #UnityChristmas giveaway calendar, and support this awesome initiative. We want to give three lucky people the chance to participate in Nordic Game Jam. It is the season of giving after all.", Mathias says.

Happy Holidays, and we hope to see you at Nordic Game Jam next year.

This year's Jam is from April 16 - 19, 2020. Tickets are available at www.nordicgamejam.com

-We look forward to jamming with you!
